WHY NON REV CHECKIN.com

When you fly standby or “non rev”, the boarding totals for each flight is a very dynamic situation. You may have checked the Passenger Boarding Totals (PBT), or in other words, how full the flight is, and it appeared to be great. But that can change in matter of a few minutes. It can go from Great to Poor in a heart beat.

Let’s play out the following example to show how dynamic the number of empty seats can be on a flight from Phoenix AZ to Las Vegas NV.

One week prior to the flight you list for flight and check the PBT’s and it says there are 35 open seats. Looks Great!

Two days prior to the flight you check again and there are only 10 seats now. The flight is just ok now, but you should get on.

The day of the flight, you check in at the airport 2 hours prior to departure and you are number 3 on the list within your boarding priority.

You get to the gate and ask the gate agent how it looks and now she says there is only 2 seats left and it doesn’t look like you're going to get on. If you would have used our service, you could have been number 1 and been given a seat on that flight.

Here are some reasons the PBT’s are so dynamic and change within just a few minutes –

  1. Earlier flight(s) cancels. This does happen on occasion and all the revenue passengers get bumped to the next flight(s). So even if your flight had 100 open seats the night before, there might be only a couple of seats right before departure.

  2. Earlier flight(s) is on maintenance. If the maintenance delay is long enough, they will move the passengers to your flight thus taking up empty seats. And it might not just be for your route. It might be for another route but they will use your flight, with a connecting flight, to get the passenger to their final destination.

  3. Other airlines cancel flight(s) – Another airline may have to cancel a flight and they will send their passengers over to your flight and there went all the open seats.

  4. A revenue passenger(s) missed an earlier flight due to weather, late to the airport, stuck in security lines, late arriving on a connecting flight, etc. He will be put on top of the standby list for the next flight, which could be yours.

  5. Last minute ticket purchases by revenue customers.

  6. Last minute non revenue passenger listings. There is no time limit on when you can list for a flight. You can do it right up until departure. So the night before it might look great, but when you get up in the morning, all of a sudden there is 50 non rev’s listed for your flight. Yes, it can get that high. We have seen non rev’s listed as high as 70 for one flight!

So make sure you use our service to give you the best opportunity possible to get on an airplane!
